Archival Cases
Sometimes the best repair is a box. A case can be an add-on to any repair order, or the complete order. You don't have to repair every flaw: for many well-loved family books, the wear is part of the story, and the kindest thing is to hold the book together exactly as it is.
I choose the materials, colors, and art to suit the book itself. If you want something specific, like personalization for a gift, tell me before I start.
Every case is built to fit your book from archival materials. Three styles to choose from:
Basic slipcase with pull ribbon
A paper-covered case, built to fit your book. The title and author go on the large front panel in vinyl lettering. A pull ribbon slides the book out. For sturdy cloth books over 1 inch thick with no dust jacket.
Basic clamshell box with lift ribbon
A paper-covered box, built to fit your book. The title and author go on the spine in vinyl lettering. It opens flat so the book is never dragged going in and out, and a lift ribbon makes it easy to take out. For books with dust jackets, leather bindings, or fragile bindings of any thickness.
Pamphlet portfolio
For thin items under 1 inch that can't stand in a slipcase.
Art upgrades
Two ways to upgrade either case:
- Facsimile art: jacket or cover art reproduced on high-quality paper and applied to the case. Add $30 to $60
- Custom art: original art I design and cut for your case. Add $60 to $100
